Importance of cleaning short term rentals

After my recent podcast with Sean Kemper, here are some of my thoughts.

Because the importance of cleaning in short-term rentals is so important, First impressions are essential for two reasons. First, you want your guests to know that you care about them and the place they’re staying. You want to ensure they are comfortable and have a great time while

staying with you. Secondly, these first impressions are what they use to form their opinions of the place, which will be reflected in their reviews.

Since cleanliness is crucial to creating a positive first impression, your rental must look spotless when your guests arrive. A clean space keeps negative reviews at bay, improves overall guest satisfaction, and boosts your daily rate over time since users tend to pay more for cleaner rentals.

Guests want to feel welcomed.

At the end of a long day setting up your property for guests, it’s easy to feel relieved that you’ve finished the bulk of the work. Unfortunately, many hosts don’t realize that the most critical part has just begun—greeting guests. Nothing is more welcoming than a smiling host with a bottle of wine and a welcome basket full of snacks. Possibly an ample supply of the essentials such as shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, and mouthwash. After greeting your guest(s), give them a tour of your home or apartment. Show them where they can find hand towels in the bathroom and extra pillows in case they need them. If you have time before their arrival, leave out some local maps on the kitchen countertop or in their bedroom. That way, they don’t have to call or text you for directions to local attractions. You may want to email an electronic version along with this list if some of these items are hard-to-find or expensive souvenirs from an antique shop nearby.

Guests want to feel comfortable even though they are away from home.

Your guests are away from home and want to feel comfortable. We’re all guilty of being too leisurely at work sometimes, so when you imagine how your guests will feel after a long day of sightseeing or business meetings, It’s easy to forget they might be exhausted and want to relax in their room. A clean short-term rental is essential for that comforting feeling.

Additionally, the fewer time guests must spend cleaning up before leaving, the more time they’ll save for fun activities! Guests will also appreciate not having to worry about cleaning during their trip, which may help them unwind.

Guests want to be able to enjoy their vacation and not worry about doing housework or cleaning.

It’s vital that your guests enjoy themselves on their trip and not worry about doing housework or cleaning. Therefore, you must ensure that all the dishes are done and ready for the guests when they arrive. You should also ensure that no trash is left lying around if they have allergies (or don’t want to see trash).

Always vacuum before a guest arrives so they don’t have to worry about it. You also need to dust everything off and ensure there aren’t any cobwebs in the corners.

Spend some time cleaning up after your guests leave for the day so that you can be ready for them when they return from sightseeing or activities. Ensure you clean off counters, wipe down windowsills and other surfaces, empty trash cans, sweep floors if needed and do anything else!

Guests want to feel safe in a clean environment.

“Absolutely,” you say. “Of course, they do.” But is your cleaning strategy up to snuff? Are you doing all you can, both in terms of guest safety and guest satisfaction, to ensure your short-term rental reputation remains stellar?

The answer may not be as simple as it seems.

While you may already have a solid housekeeping regime in place, several factors could harm your guests’ ability to guarantee their safety and peace of mind. Below are a few things to keep in mind when deciding whether you’re genuinely meeting the needs of guests during these trying times:

Cleaning is crucial

Once you have all the basics, it’s time to dive into how to make your property stand out. You’re on a vacation rental site for a reason: because you want your property to be booked as often as possible. So, how can you make this happen? We must turn to the “3 Cs.”

Consideration is essential, but it won’t get guests through the door. Cleanliness will set your listing apart from the pack and, in many cases, will be what brings guests back after their first visit. Guests are looking for a clean home where they can feel safe and comfortable during their vacation. Therefore, the importance of cleanliness cannot be overstated—it forms an integral part of the guest experience. Nobody wants to stay somewhere they perceive dirty or unclean, so you must always present a tidy home.

While bedding and towels are prominent areas that need regular cleaning and replacing, many other items should also be cleaned throughout each stay (and between visits). These include pillows (which should never be shared between guests), carpets and rugs (regularly vacuumed in high-traffic areas), shower curtains (washed frequently or replaced every six months), windowsills and sills around doors/windows (wiped down regularly or replaced as needed)
